“For the rendering of this service not only supplies the wants of the saints but also overflows in many thanksgivings to God.” 2 Corinthians 9:12
St. Andrew’s Vestry is actively exploring the “dedication of some of the fruits of our fundraising to those outside of our immediate circle” (Renewing the Gift, 2021 Capital Campaign brochure).
The initial goal for the Capital Campaign Tithe was $70,000. Because, through the grace of God and your generosity, our Renewing the Gift Capital Campaign exceeded that goal and raised $817,000 in gifts, we have decided to proceed with a true 10% tithe; so, we plan on granting $81,000.
We are actively searching for non-profit organizations whose mission aligns with ours: neighborly love especially to those in greatest need. We intend to award grants to organizations engaged in a project for which a significant infusion of support would make a qualitative difference. Preference will be given to local and regional organizations, though national or international options may also be entertained. Whatever the locality of the organization, we hope the tithe will support either an ongoing or a new relationship with the grantees, so that this process can be part of St. Andrew’s communal spiritual growth.
Our committee of Vestry members has screened about 15 organizations. We will ask for an RFP (Request for Proposal) from likely organizations and make recommendations to the whole Vestry, for a final determination. We envision making somewhere between 3 and 6 grants and intend for the grants to be made later in 2024.
I have been in touch with many of you already about this process. If any of you have questions, suggestions, or guidance to offer, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
This campaign tithe will allow us to share in the joy of lifting up many others outside our circle, and will also serve to give thanks to God for our own abundance.
Thanks for your participation.
