Safe Church
Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. - Matthew 25:40
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ. If one member suffers, all suffer together with it; if one member is honored, all rejoice together with it. - 1 Corinthians 12:12,26
Safe Church is an ongoing practice, organized by our NH Diocese, to keep all persons within our church, safe, non-threatened, and growing together at church and beyond. Safe means being physically, emotionally and spiritually safe. Our commitment to the churchwide Safe Church Policy has been passed by our Vestry, and is something we continually recommit to through our individual trainings and re-trainings, and in the way we coach each other actively as part of our shared Gospel living. How do we stay fresh in this commitment? By administering internet based experiential trainings to all of our Clergy, Staff, Vestry, and all leaders working with children or others who are vulnerable; and by administering personal background checks of these same leaders.
We join many churches across the nation promoting Safe Church practices. As the context of "community-making" has changed, we are working hard to care well for all with whom we minister.
